Tom Waits Illustration
I was tasked with producing an illustration of the musician Tom Waits. In this piece, I not only wanted to portray the man but also give a feeling of his personality and his background. Using a dark and gritty style mixing pencil, pen, marker pen and chalk I feel doing just that. Eluding to his years of working the clubs, and his distinctive gravelly voice. I also exaggerated the darkness of his eyes representing how he nearly lost his soul in a battle with alcoholism, all of which I believe adds to the natural feel of this illustration.
